Reality Check: Saudi Arabia is Going Broke!

 Road to Poor House?

"All the Saudis have done is create an existential crisis for  themselves.

If the Saudis don’t stop flooding the market—and there are no signs they will—they won’t be shooting themselves in the foot… but in the head. Saudi Arabia will either collapse or surrender—and stop flooding the market.

Either way, oil will eventually go a lot higher."

The Coming Collapse of Saudi Arabia

They met in secret to plan a devastating attack…
Two powerful men, colluding at a palace in the Middle East.
In September 2014, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry flew to Saudi Arabia. He was there to meet with King Abdullah, the country’s ruler and one of the richest men in the world.
Informed observers say Kerry and Abdullah drew up a plan at this meeting to destroy their common enemies: Russia and Iran.
To carry out the attack, they wouldn’t use fighter jets, tanks and ground troops. They would use a much more powerful weapon…

With oilfield activity suddenly contracting, production from a dwindling number of freshly fracked wells would be unable to compensate for the rapid depletion of older wells. Yet that long-anticipated turning point has only just begun to emerge - partly because producers had a couple more tricks in store.
Some drillers are spending a little bit more on measures that are subtly flattening the so-called "production curve" of shale wells, either by limiting the initial surge in output or by squeezing a few additional barrels out of older wells, according to industry executives and analysts.

What does all this mean to investors? If you are not already long gold, this is the time to be patiently looking for an entry point. It is not recommend to jump in already now, as gold can typically drop fast and sharp with the aim to shake out weak hands.
Volatility is coming, and, as always, that comes with opportunities for patient investors and traders. Rob Tovell will issue a Trade Alert when an ideal entry point is presenting itself with a signal to go long

 Ontario Debt Just Keeps Growing

Over the 12-year period, Ontario’s net debt ballooned by $10,292 per person, which was the largest per-capita increase in the country.

Hong Kong Home Sales Tumble 70% as Slowdown Intensifies

Hong Kong residential home sales plunged 70 percent in February from a year earlier to a 25-year low, as falling prices and economic uncertainty deterred buyers.
Last month, 1,807 homes were sold in Hong Kong, compared with 6,027 a year earlier, according to government statistics. Home sales fell from 2,045 in January, the data show.
“The newspapers keep on saying the market is going down and buyers think they can get a cheaper house half-a-year later or one year later, and so are waiting," said Thomas Fok, a property agent at Centaline Property Agency in Hong Kong’s upscale Mid-levels West district where he hasn’t made one sale this year.
Property prices have declined 10 percent from their September highs amid uncertainty over the economy at home and in China, possible interest-rate increases and plans by the government to boost housing supply in the next five years. Senior Hong Kong government officials have ruled out relaxing property curbs, which include extra stamp duties and caps on mortgage levels.

We're Back! Sub-Prime Debt That Is!

Trends in sub-primes debt are a leading indicator of things to come.  Remember what happened the last time this market tanked. Not a good omen.

When will we ever learn?

More Subprimes Borrowers Are Falling Behind on Their Auto Loans

The delinquency rate reaches its highest level since 2010

Rising delinquencies come as a warning sign that more loans may end up in default down the road, said John McElravey, an analyst at the bank. What may be most troubling, however, is that the default rate is already climbing, up to 12.3 percent in January from 11.3 the prior month. That is the highest rate since 2010, the data show.

The country already tops measures of the world’s most miserable economy, with inflation of 181 percent last year, a currency that has collapsed on the black market to less than 1 percent of its official value and shortages of basic goods such as detergent and antibiotics. It’s a horrific turnaround for what was once one of the region’s most stable democracies, famous for its big cars, cheap gasoline and beauty queens

Halfway through a two-year recession that’s forecast to be the worst since at least 1901, Brazil finds itself stuck in a grinding cycle of job loss and falling consumer spending. National unemployment has climbed to 9 percent as retail sales tank and industrial production contracts for 22 straight months, government reports show.

The move comes as crude-oil prices have fallen about 12% so far this year and have plunged 34% over the past 12 months, putting the finances of energy companies under pressure.

“The currency volatility means investors are unwilling to stomach these bonds. And as growth slows in the countries and the bond yields go higher, the cost of servicing debt is getting more difficult for these countries.”

China Shocks World With Currency Devaluation On Heals Of Stock Market Collapse, & More

World Markets Shudder,

Expect More Trouble GoingForward

China's currency devaluation ripped global risk markets, but the real fear is that what's behind the move could be a bigger problem for the world economy.
Chinese honor guards outside the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Global stock markets fell and commodities were crushed. Emerging market equities were casualties, and currencies from the Mexican peso to the Australian dollar were smacked. The U.S. dollar was higher against a basket of currencies, and buyers moved into the safety of bunds and Treasurys, driving yields sharply lower. The U.S. 10-year was yielding 2.13 percent.
"It's a little bit of damage to the global growth psychology. If the country that's been growing the fastest and been one of the mainstays of global growth momentum ... is allowing their currency to sink a little bit, if they're resorting to that, how bad are things around the world?" said Robert Sinche, chief global strategist at Amherst Pierpont Securities.

China the Ultimate Crony Capitalist State devalues its currency

In case you haven’t noticed things aren’t so hot in China. In fact the country, the Ultimate Crony Capitalist State is in serious trouble. Today it devalued the yuan, its currency.
We have been sounding the alarm on China for a very long time. Not that we’ve been the only ones. That China has been headed for real trouble has been obvious to many for quite a while, years. Regardless, trouble is here now. The world’s second largest economy is pretty much in crisis mode, or very near it and this state of affairs will have an impact (it already has) globally.

What should also be understood is that this is not a separate episode from the initial financial crisis which hit much of the world in 2008. China, Greece, Japan, it’s a continuation of the Great Recession. We’re not out of it. Indeed, some believe that we likely have not seen the worst of it.

Mexico's central bank on Tuesday said it sold $107 million of $200 million offered in an auction to support the peso currency at an average price of 16.3274 pesos per dollar. (Reporting by Mexico Newsroom)

Russian state companies and banks are cutting staff and scrapping projects as they prepare for another surge of foreign debt repayments of at least $35 billion before the end of the year amid falling energy export revenues and a weaker rouble.

apanese analysts are sharply cutting their economic growth forecasts for the year amid expectations that activity shrank in the second quarter, a survey showed, piling pressure on the central bank to trim its own rosy projections.

The central government’s debt hit a record high of ¥1.057 quadrillion at the end of June, up by some ¥3.87 trillion from the end of March, according to the Finance Ministry. The national debts, or the combined balance of outstanding Japanese government bonds, financing bills to cover temporary funding shortfalls and borrowings, increased due to rising social security costs, including on medical care and pensions, amid the aging of society.

The ruble slid the most in emerging markets as the biggest drop in China’s yuan in two decades drove down oil prices and sparked concern Russia’s exports to its largest trading partner will be curtailed.

Industrial Production Falls

In June

Industrial production across the eurozone declined more than expected in June, rounding off a weak second quarter and indicating that lackluster investment continues to restrain economic activity.
The European Union's statistics agency said Wednesday that production at factories, mines and utilities fell for the second straight month in June, down 0.4% from May. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal had forecast a monthly decline of 0.1%.
The data, coming ahead of Friday's publication of gross domestic product estimates, "shed a concerning light on the manufacturing recovery in 2015" as some of the region's main trading partners are going through a weak growth spell, said Bert Colijn, an economist at ING Bank.
A cooling Chinese economy prompted Beijing on Tuesday to devalue its currency, while data on Monday showed that Russia's economy moved further into recession in the second quarter.
